Adulting Resources, Discounts, & Links Vetted by Chelsea

Every resource on this page is something I personally use and have thoroughly researched. If it's here, I trust it — and I'll always tell you who it's not for.

CrowdHealth

The health coverage alternative I've used for 2+ years for my family of 3.

The deal

Join for only $99/mo for your first 3 months. Use my referral link or enter code CHELSEA on your application.

Who it's for Generally healthy individuals and families looking for an affordable alternative to traditional health insurance.
Who it's not for Anyone over 64, anyone currently pregnant, or anyone with a condition requiring ongoing expensive treatment. Read my full breakdown on the blog before you decide.

Monarch Money

The budgeting app that actually stuck for my ADHD brain.

The deal

Manage your budget and money with Monarch Money — use my link and enter code MONARCHVIP to get 50% off your first year of Core Plan.

Who it's for Anyone who has tried and abandoned budgeting apps before, couples who want to see all their accounts in one place, or anyone who just wants to finally know where their money is going.
Who it's not for If you're happy with a free option like Mint (now Credit Karma) or you prefer a zero-based budgeting system like YNAB, Monarch might not be different enough to justify the switch.

Trust & Will

The peace of mind that comes from knowing your family is protected — without paying thousands for an estate attorney.

The deal

Use my link and enter code EXCLUSIVE10 for 10% off your estate plan.

Who it's for Anyone who's been putting off getting a will, especially parents of young kids who need to name guardians. Also great if you don't want to spend thousands on an estate attorney for a straightforward situation.
Who it's not for If you have a complex estate — business ownership, blended families with specific inheritance needs, significant assets across multiple states — you may need an attorney for the nuance. Trust & Will is great for getting the essentials done, not for complicated scenarios.

NokBox

Leave memories, not a mess. This is how I organize the documents that actually matter.

The deal

A structured, portable system that organizes your most important documents, credentials, digital access, and life details in one place. I got the fireproof version. They run sales frequently — check the link for current pricing.

Who it's for Anyone who knows they should have their important documents organized but has no idea where to start — or anyone who's been through losing a loved one and knows firsthand how chaotic it is when nothing is in order.
Who it's not for If you've already built your own organizational system that works, you don't need this. It's also a physical product, so if you're looking for a purely digital solution, this isn't that.

Ally Bank High Yield Savings

Where I keep our savings — and actually earn something on it while it sits there.

The deal

Use my referral link to open a new Ally savings account and earn a $100 bonus. No minimum balance, no monthly fees.

Who it's for Anyone whose savings is sitting in a regular checking or savings account earning basically nothing. Also great if you like to organize your money into separate goals — Ally lets you set up buckets within one account so you can save for specific things without opening a bunch of separate accounts. Transfers in and out are quick, which makes it easy to actually use.
Who it's not for If you already have a high yield savings account you're happy with, or if you've had any Ally Bank deposit account since January 1, 2024, you won't be eligible for the bonus. This is for new Ally Bank customers only.

Santevia Water Filtration

The countertop water filter and shower filter we use every day — because I got tired of wondering what's in our water.

The deal

Use my link to get 10% off your purchase.

Who it's for Anyone who's been meaning to upgrade their water filtration but keeps putting it off. We use the countertop filter for drinking water and the shower filter for our whole family. Great if you want a simple, no-plumber-required setup.
Who it's not for If you're looking for a whole-house filtration system, this isn't that — Santevia focuses on point-of-use filters. Also, if you're already happy with your current setup, no need to switch just because.

Prepared Hero

The emergency fire blanket I bought and genuinely hope we never need.

The deal

Save $5 off your first purchase with my link.

Who it's for Anyone who doesn't have a fire safety plan beyond "hope for the best." These are compact, easy to store, and don't expire like fire extinguishers do. I keep one in the kitchen and one near the bedrooms.
Who it's not for This isn't a replacement for a fire extinguisher or a full emergency plan — it's one piece of the puzzle. If you've already got fire blankets covered, focus on the other adulting stuff first.

Who's Chelsea?

I'm a business / contracts lawyer with AuDHD who reads the fine print for fun. I manage every financial and logistical decision for my family — health coverage, life insurance, estate planning, budgeting, all of it — and I got tired of keeping the research to myself.

Decide with Chelsea started because my friends kept texting me asking which life insurance I went with, how I found our health coverage, and whether that budgeting app was actually worth it. Turns out, it wasn't just my friends who needed this. A lot of us are navigating the same adulting decisions alone, in silence, with 30 browser tabs open and no confidence to pull the trigger.

I'm not a coach, guru, or financial advisor. I'm a research buddy. I vet the tools, read the member guidelines, and share my honest take — including when something isn't a good fit — so you can make your own informed decision and move on with your adulting life.

Frequently Asked Questions

I only recommend things I personally use and pay for. Every product on this page is something I chose for my own family after extensive research. I also make a point to tell you when something is NOT a good fit — because credibility matters more to me than commissions. I'm a business / contracts lawyer, so reading fine print and digging into terms is kind of my thing.

Some of them, yes — affiliate links are marked with an asterisk (*). But here's the thing: you'll never pay more by using my link. In most cases you'll actually pay less because I negotiate discount codes. I will never promote something just because it has a good commission. If I don't use it, it's not here.

I research it thoroughly, try it myself, and then ask: would I recommend this to a close friend? If the answer is yes, I'll share it. If the answer is "only in certain situations," I'll share it AND tell you exactly who it's not for. If the answer is no, you'll never see it on this page.

These are my current top picks — the ones I use right now and feel great about. As I research more adulting decisions, I'll add to this page. Check the blog for deeper dives on each one, plus other topics I'm researching.

That's exactly why I include "who it's not for" on every recommendation. I'd rather you read that and decide it's not your thing than sign up and regret it. If you're unsure, read the full blog post first — I go deeper there.

*Some of the links on this page are affiliate or referral links. I only recommend services I personally use, and you won't pay more by using them. I appreciate your support — it helps me keep doing this research and sharing it for free.
